Alaskan film maker William Bacon was the first to film the remote NamcheBarwa Gorge in Eastern Tibet in 1993. Over the course of four years Baconmade three trips into Tibet. Tibet: A Moment in Time is the result offilming some of the wildest country in the world. Shot in 16mm by thismaster wildlife/nature film maker, Tibet: A Moment in Time has clear andbrilliant images. It covers the great canyons of the Yarlung Tsangpo river(which becomes the Bramaputra in India), the villages hidden deep withinthe canyons as well as modern Chinese developments in Lhasa, environmentalconcerns, the Yamdrok Tso hydro project and other timely issues.Some of the proceeds from sale of this film go to benefit the TEACH,Tibetan Educational and Childrens Home in Kollegal, south India.The script was writen by Denise Lassaw Paljor, director of the AlaskaTibet Committee and widow of the late Tibetan scholar Ngodup Paljor.
