The Sierra Friends of Tibet's purpose is to raise awareness of Tibet; toadvocate self-determination for the Tibetan people; to end the illegaloccupation, the destruction of the natural environment, the eradication ofTibetan Culture, and the continuing genocide of the Tibetan people by theChinese Communist government. We promote a peaceful resolution of theseissues.

The Sierra Friends of Tibet is not a religious organization, nor does itadvocate one religion over another. However we recognize that TibetanBuddhism is inseparable from Tibetan Culture. Therefore we also raiseawareness of Tibetan Buddhism.

Some of the Tibetan people we have hosted here in the Sierra foothills, specifically the small towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City, are theDrepung Loseling monks, Sera Je monks, the venerable Choeding Rinpoche, theKhachoe Ghaykil Ling nuns, Thepo Tulku, Lobsang Samten, His HolinessOrgyen Kusum Lingpa and others.

The Tibetan Radio Hour is a radio program devoted exclusively to Tibet. Itairs on KVMR-FM, Nevada City, CA. on the first Friday of each month. fromNoon to 1:00 PM. KVMR broadcasts at 89.5 FM in the Sierra Foothills, 103.7in Auburn, and 99.3 FM in Sacramento. KVMR is available anywhere in theworld on the Internet at http://www.kvmr.org/ through webradio.com.
