The Gizard

bucket of mud

I drank me
a bucket of mud
just to see how far
it would take me away

away from
this murky room
back to the open field
I call my home

well I felt the strength of the earth in me
but the mud stuck to my dreams and I can't
lift up my boots no more

I smoked me
a bushel of leaves
just to see how far
it would take me away

away from these
hallowed halls
back to the open sky
where I belong

well I felt the force of the storm in me
but the wind just knocked me down and I can't
fly up there no more

I ate up
all your sweet love
just to see how far
it would take me away

away from
this heart of mine
back to the endless mind
where I was born

well I felt the bliss of eternity
but it used up all the time and I can't
go back, back there no more

I sat down
and did not move
just to see how far
it would take me away

away from
this universe
back to the empty space
without a form

well I watched myself from dawn to noon
and though I never left the room
I don't live there anymore
